DJ 3000 launched the Broken Research project as a way to showcase overlooked talent from across the globe. The electronicmusic game can be a hard wall to scale for artists without a recognized name or a well known label to release their work. Like many Detroit labels, Motech realized that among its network of artists and comrades that it had a wide reaching net of talentwho's work needed to be heard.

Not willing to submit to the formula and genre defining boundaries that run rampant through electronic music, DJ 3000 and Motech as a label, created the Broken Research project as an outlet for artists to explore their sound without the constraints of a genre label.

MT-024 is the first in a series of 12-inches that will showcase the original singles from the Broken Research 2 record, as well as various remixes by label artists. This introductory 12" features tracks by DJ Duct and Deviant. DJ Duct is fresh off the 2009 release of the first volume of his Backyard Edits. His revolutionary approach to edits and turntablism has earned him a spot on the world stage. Deviant, a Motech alum, has established himself as a master of the downtempo, Latin twinged breaks as part of Beta Bodega and the Arepaz Immigrant Orchestra (A.I.O.)

DJ Duct's "Hitman" is a clinic in the realm of the edit. Tapping into a psychedelic set of original sounds, Duct drops the groove to create a masterful, and no less soulful, rhythmic soundscape. The DJ 3000 takes "Hitman" in a whole new direction. Stepping out of his signature sound, DJ 3000 creates a melodic, house driven take on Duct's original edit that puts to rest any implied notion that he is a "one trick pony."

Deviant's "Caballo"speaks for itself. He laces us in swarms of Latin percussion, dirty basslines and a percussive riff that moves even the most stubborn set of feet. In his remix of "Caballo", DJ 3000 ropes in the shuffled beats of the original to give us a syncopated re-hash that is bathed in lush synths, yet retains the brash flavor of Deviant's original composition.

MT-024 continues under the mantra that Motech and it's artists embrace, the mantra that there are no guidelines, no boxes to fit in, and no genres to limit one's creativity. Motech has created a signature sound that is never to be confused as typical output. In our world there is no typical output, once people catch on to our sound, we are on to the next.

Don't be misled, Motech is on a mission to be three steps ahead of the everyday.

Forge ahead and join us, won't you?
