In the case of "Gjeloshaj 1862" it's the latter. What originated as an intro for DJ 3000 DJ sets has evolved into the visions of three separate producers. The original piece was produced by Gerald Mitchell ( UR, Los Hermanos) as a dramatic opening piece for Motech DJ sets all over the world. From there DJ 3000 took the vision of the original and gave it a dash of Motech funk. The result is a sound collage of Albanian vocals that draws the attention of listeners regardless of their understanding of the actual lyrics, a driving beat and wavering synths that paint an entire picture out of Mitchell's original sketch Closing out the EP is Santiago Salazar aka Ican, DJ S2 (Ican, UR, Los Hermanos) with a final take on the "Gjeloshaj" saga. One could imagine that if Underground Resistance were to storm the Balkan Peninsula that this would be the soundtrack for the battle at hand. This EP is steeped in the tradition of Motech Records. Showing us again that in spite of our backgrounds, our cultural, financial and racial differences, one piece of music can inspire a sense of unity and cohesion unmatched in everyday life. Using music as our message, we break down barriers and rally the masses towards one common feeling, that of unity and oneness. Won't you join us? |
