DJ 3000 launched the Broken Research project as a way to showcase overlooked talent from across the globe. The electronicmusic game can be a hard wall to scale for artists without a recognized name or a well known label to release their work. Like many Detroit labels, Motech realized that among its network of artists and comrades that it had a wide reaching net of talentwho's work needed to be heard.

With the release of the “Broken Research II” compilation, Motech Records continues in it’s pursuit to expand beyond the unwritten boundaries of electronic music. While many of Motech’s 12” and artist released full lengths are dance floor oriented, the “Broken Research” series is a more dedicated experience meant for the listener rather than the dancer.

Collaboration has become a cornerstone for Motech Records. Maintaining its diverse sound requires diverse collaborations. The sound that emerges on "Heritage" is no exception. Combining the ever evolving sound of DJ 3000 and the synth mastery of Esteban Adame (Galaxy 2 Galaxy, Los Hermanos, Ican w/Santiago Salazar). "Heritage" is a driving exploration of where "the sound of Detroit" is going. Joined together are the ethno-percussive elements instrumental to shaping the Motech sound, as well as a dance floor driven synth pattern that beckons your inner desire to move.  The original mix is taken from DJ 3000’s “Galactic Caravan” release.

 MT-022 “Flamuri I Popullit" Remixes

The art of the remix has always been an important part of the electronic music genre. The ability to take parts of an existing track and mold it into your own composition, while infusing your own style, is not a skill possessed by every producer. “Flamuri I Popullit” stood particularly strong on its own on DJ 3000’s “Galactic Caravan” LP. So to add remixes by Belgium’s Buscemi and Japan’s own J.A.K.A.M afforded the already cultural soaked track with an extra dose of global influence.

The original mix of “Flamuri I Popullit”is a prime example of DJ 3000’s progression as a producer. It is composed of an exact blend of the culturally rich sound that has been ever present since Motech Records’ earliest releases with an evolving funky swagger that is more and more apparent on each DJ 3000 release.

The Buscemi remix of “Flamuri I Popullit” is a seductive, almost dream like composition that draws you in with every passing second. And just as you are drawn in fully, the beat drops and you are forced to move. This remix is a guaranteed floor burner that will certainly captivate crowds across the globe and appear on DJ charts worldwide in the coming months.

JAKAM (also appearing as Moochy, Juzu) is a producer without pre conceived boundaries and classification. This self proclaimed freestyle is readily apparent on his remix of “Flamuri I Popullit.” JAKAM retains the original vibe of the track, but adds a darker and driven feel. If the Buscemi mix aimed for our carnal appeal, JAKAM has certainly aimed for our cerebral response to the track.
